Here is a tip from the Wolaks'. To save time doing laundry,
have one hamper for the whites and one hamper for the colors. We have a white
one and a blue one located in the closet. Once the hamper is filled, just dump
into washer. This saves time sorting through all that dirty laundry. February 20, 2000 Earlier in the week we experimented with a couple of free Web hosts: Crosswinds.com and Yahoo! Geocities.com. Our experiences with both were frustrating, time consuming and a real pain in the @$%. Crosswinds.com offers 100MB of free hosting space and FTP file uploading. While this is true, we found out the hard way that every time we tried to FTP the site was busy (i.e. error message: Too many FTP users). When we were able to get in, the data transfer rate was agonizingly slow. In addition, the site was down for repair for a good portion of the weekend. We figured that Yahoo! Geocities.com would be a more pleasurable experience - another mistake. Geocities had three major flaws. The first was the limitation on acceptable file types that it allows you to upload or FTP. In fact, quite a few of the file types that FrontPage 2000 automatically creates were not allowed. In addition, it would not allow the creation of third level folders (another FrontPage requirement). We thought we had the problem solved by deleting the unknown file types and signing up for Geocities Plus a $4.95 per month premium service that allowed for up to five folder levels. However, the banner gifs on certain pages began to hang and the pages would never complete. This banner problem was the last straw, and we decided to look for a “real” Web host. After searching through TopHosts.com, we selected Addr.com. The price was right ($7.95 per month) and it provided FTP, FrontPage extension support, and numerous other benefits. Hopefully we will not have to move in the near future. Let us know what you thing about our new host.
